We are H D White Ltd, a well-established family business based in Ford, West Sussex. We are passionate about scrap metal recycling. With over 60 years’ experience, we offer a professional, reliable and effective way to recycle your scrap metal.
The company was founded by Harry White (The H D in our name) In 1956, when the options were between running a pub or buying a scrap yard, Harry’s wife Jill asked him which he knew more about, and of course with 20 years’ experience, it was the scrap metal trade. They started trading from Wick Street, Littlehampton, which for 5 decades was home.

Despite being given six months to go bust! by the 1970’s the Iron prices were steady and “White’s” was expanding, even exporting by ship from Littlehampton harbour. David White (Harry’s Son) was given more responsibility running the yard, which he did well! He dedicated 50 years of grit and determination to grow the business.
The business took off, and in 2015 H D White Ltd moved to larger, purpose-built premises in Ford. Jonathan White (David’s Son), who is currently running the business, set up our new yard to be an efficient operation, with two weighbridges, two hydraulic cranes and most recently a 700 tonne Moros shear.
